Raina remembered someone who had the exact shade of eyes as the little kitten and had a thought. "How about... Rafael? That little guy's eyes remind me of his. I think it suits him well..." Raina looked off to the side, embarassed. Maybe she just should have kept her mouth shut. She had already "said" enough this morning while she was asleep. God how she just wanted to crawl beneath a rock and die...

Alithia looked down at the kitten and smiled. "Do you like Rafael, little guy?" She watched him feed and just couldn't keep a happy look off of her face. She usually disliked felines, liked dogs better, but she just loved this kitten. She glanced over at Xavier and frowned. Why couldn't men be more like animals, even when they were considered animals.

Rafael looked up from his lid of blood and licked his chops noisily. This is interesting. Well, at least I won't get confused by another name being used to call after me. He pawed at Alithia happily. Hopefully, she got that it meant "yes." God damn it... There was another itch, and it was in the same place as last time. He moved to scratch it again, but once more, wound up on his back with that single paw in the air. I can deal with being this small. But all these damn fleas...At least someone doesn't start itching when I bite them to drink their blood. And that gave him an interesting thought. Have I ever been compared to a flea before?...Hm...

"Awe, does my little guy have fleas?" Alithia bent over and picked him up. She was good at calling animals, she was also good at getting them to go away. All vampires have to have a few tricks, right? She closed her eyes and concentrated on the fleas and them dissapearing. She opened her eyes again and looked at the kitten. "Raum, pack these jars with us for Rafael." She knew he'd listen.

Rafael purred and molded his back against Alithia's chin. He licked her softly with his pale pink tongue and sat on her shoulder, rubbing the side of her head with his own. You have no idea how grateful I am. Thank you. He purrsed inside her ear and licked the ear lobe. How else was he going to show his gratitude? It was then that he had an alert from somewhere below. Shit...Where's a little box when you need one?!

Alithia smiled the largest she could without cutting her lips with her fangs. "Let's get you outside." She walked to the door and stopped. "Time to go." Without looking at anyone, she walked out the door. She set Rafael on the ground and looked around. There was a slight breeze blowing through her long black hair. Her yellow eyes scanned the trees and underbrush. She was happy to have her kitten, but yet, she was growing steadily misserable. But...why?

Rastus walked out behind Alithia. He watched her hair for a little while, then noticed a little movement on the ground out of the corner of his eye. There Rafael was, pulling at grass and dirt with his paws to cover the mess he just made. Rastus smiled mockingly and desperately resisted the urge to laugh. Ahh...This is priceless. It's not often I see you so low in the food chain, little brother. From time-to-time though, I get the absolute pleasure. He chuckled softly and stretched out his arms as he walked forward a bit more. They still had so far to go...He loved it.

As Rastus walked into her eye sight, Alithia frowned. She was trying with all that she had not to reach out and place her hand somewhere, anywhere, on his body. Since her...fun...with Xavier, she felt the eternal need to be close to a man's...body. Her heart seemed to jump, since her heart still could beat when awake. She was facing a battle with her urges and losing misserably. Damn you, Rastus...

"I'm already damned, my lady. You're too little too late." He grinned fang at her and pulled her off to the side of the house. He looked deep into her glowing yellow eyes and felt a wave of familiarity; but from where? His fingertips caressed her cheek and sent pleasure through his arm. Why was there this connection between them already? His mouth descended and met hers with a gentle crash. Her lips were sweet, and it was indeed a refreshing taste. He pulled away and looked back into her eyes. "Come, we musn't keep the others waiting." He withdrew his body from being against her and offered his hand, palm up.

Alithia was shocked. She pressed her fingertips to her lips and looked at his hand. SHe placed her own in his and let him lead her. Her mind was way too clouded to think straight. "How far away is the castle?" She asked, voice distant. Inwardly, she was hoping he wouldn't let go of her hand. Yet, she did promise herself that she would make no attatchments. Guys messed things up...bad. She sigh. Whatever.

Rastus frowned at Alithia's question, still holding her hand tightly. He didn't want to let it go. "We have a little over 950 miles still." He kissed the top of Alithia's hand and smiled. Xavier was now standing by the door, Rafael in hand. Raina was beside him, Raum by her. The look on Xavier's face was a sight for sore eyes. He thought more went on than what really did. Good. Let him think that. Xavier frowned at Alithia, hurt.

Alithia looked at Xavier and then at Rastus, then back to Xavier. She shook her head to let him know that what he thought had happened, didn't. She looked at Rastus and frowned. She wouldn't put up with the way he was treating Xavier. She shook her head against and let go of his hand. She walked up to Xavier and took Rafael. "Thank you, Xavier." She traced her fingertips along Xavier's cheek and stopped, cupping his cheek in her palm.

He grinned at Alithia and snuggled his cheek into her palm. "You're welcome, darling." Xavier kissed her palm and took it in his own. Things were getting ridiculous with Rastus, and he was getting more and more suspicious of him. Xavier turned and looked at Raina and noticed she was watching Raum from the corner of her eye. There was no doubt in Xavier's mind that Raum knew what was going on as well. He was probably laughing on the inside, trying his hardest not to let the laughter out. God, he hoped Raina wasn't going to get her heart broken. There was no doubt that she was going to fall for Raum if he stuck around. She was too much of a lonely fool not to...

Alithia didn't remove her hand from Xavier's. She knew she should have, but she didn't. Her mind was spinning with thoughts. "Lead the way, Rastus." She spoke with absolutely no emotion. She looked down at Rafael and smiled. I love you, little guy. She didn't say it out loud, but it was true. She squeezed Xavier's hand and began to follow Rastus. They had such a long way to go. Such a long time to have to deal with people she didn't know. She looked up at Xavier and let out a sigh. She shouldn't be holding his hand. Oh well...

Xavier wondered why Alithia seemed so tense as Rastus led the way towards the castle. Rastus seemed pissed, which was good. He didn;t like that blood sucker; wanted him dead, really. No one treats him like he's been treating him. Unfortunately, he would have to get away with it... for now. There was a sharp pain in his head and he realized what that meant: the hunters were paging him. "Shit..." He let go of Alithia's hand and began rubbing his temples. What do you want me to do?

When Xavier had let go of her hand, her heart fell into her stomach. She looked up at him and frowned. "Are you okay?" She was worried about him. She reached out and placed her hand on his strong chest. "Xavier...?" She wasn't sure what to do. She placed Rafael at her feet gently and came back to face Xavier. He seemed to be in a lot of pain. It hurt her...for some reason.

Xavier ignored her and concentrated on the hunters trying to contact him. They wanted him to hunt a female vampire who was also an assassin. Peachy, he had to leave Raina. What's her name? They kept walking as he waited for the answer he looked at Alithia apologeitcally. "Sorry. I'm just having a headache. Someone I work for is trying to give me orders for the next assignment." He grabbed her hand again and squeezed it. What was taking them so long with the name? They walked a few more feet when the name was given to him. He stopped in his steps and felt like falling over. This couldn't have been a worse time to get tangled up with this group... Alithia Batholem...

Raum had heard everything that went on in Xavier's head. A hiss erupted from his mouth as he ran at Xavier. He tackled him to the ground, pinning him entirely without much effort. "I will kill you if you even try." Raum was not able to love, thanks to the devil himself, but he cared about Alithia as much as his heart would let him. Nothing would happen to her. Not while I'm around. He hissed again.

Xavier groaned and moved beneath Raum's heavy build. "You can read my mind, demon! Does it seem like I want to lay a finger on her in that way?!" Xavier threw his deep, inner thoughts at Raum's mind and tried his hardest not to turn beneath him. He was hoping his fantasies of a life with Alithia was running through Raum's head. His feelings for Alithia were growing stronger, and it bothered him. They've only known each other for a little less than 24 hours, and now the only person he cares about most is Raina. He stopped caring about himself decades ago. "Could you get off me now? I can't breathe..."

Raum jumped up off of Xavier but continued to glare. "I'm watching you, wolf boy." He looked at Alithia and sent what had gone through Xavier's head to hers. She needed to know that someone wanted her dead. They'd never get her though. She was too good, too fast and too strong. "Continue on, Rastus." He'd keep close to Alithia from now on. He needed to. Not only for her, but for himself as well.

Alithia rolled her eyes in annoyance. So, another person wanted her dead. Peachy. "How are to the next town, Rastus?" She needed to be prepared to perfect herself and those around her. They would surely attack within the next couple of days. They would not only have Xavier after her. No, there would be many. "I'll protect you, little man." She whispered to the kitten.

Looks like your deal with Xavier is getting etchy, little brother. "We have about twenty miles left to the next one." He quickened his pace. He didn't want anyone after Alithia. Not unless it was him. "Let's move faster so we can get there at a sooner time. I know you want to prepare, Alithia." He heard Rafael purring at Alithia and felt like vomitting. He was tired of his baby brother hiding behind a cute little kitten disguise. Even he wasn't that pathetic. He gave his name. All it took was someone who knew their stuff to blow his cover. He knew that one of them already knew who he was. It was either Raina or Raum...He was betting on Raum.

Alithia, somehow, had heard something go through Rastus's head. His brother was in disguise. She looked around searching for what he could be disguised into. That's when her little Rafael purred. She looked down, eyes wide. "No way..." She whispered to herself. She let that go. Maybe he had said his brother would probably show up in disguise. Yeah, that had to be it... She looked at Rastus. That isn't it...is it? Her yellow eyes turned Crimson.

He looked at Alithia and grinned. "No, my dear. It's not." Rastus glanced at the small kitten and huffed. Annoying. Even if he did decide to blow Rafael's cover, she would refuse to believe. She's too attatched to that dame kitty... He groaned and decided to give it a try. Hopefully, his own cover wouldn't be blown in the process. "My brother is disguised as the kitten in your hand, my lady."

Alithia shook her head and chuckled. "Whatever." She barely noticed that the kitten had stopped purring and had tensed up. "Wait..." She looked down at the kitten. No, no, no and no. "Are you...his brother?" She knew the kitten wasn't. She felt so stupid for asking. Yet...how do you get a vamp kitty? She stared at the kitten...hard.
